Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves overseeing payroll operations for a large, multi-state workforce of over 650 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all processes. Based in Carrollton, Texas, this position requires expertise in Workday Payroll and ADP Workforce Now, as well as a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the full payroll cycle for a biweekly pay schedule in Workday, covering employees across multiple states
  • Collaborate with ADP Workforce Now to handle tax payments, filings, and check issuance, while performing regular audits and reconciliations
  • Administer payroll tax accounts across 46 states and Washington, D.C., ensuring compliance and resolving any issues promptly
  • Partner with HR and benefits teams to support complex leave management processes, including disability and vendor-related payments
  • Recommend and implement improvements to payroll procedures to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Workday Payroll, driving system optimization and best practices
  • Maintain the confidentiality of payroll, employee, and company information
  • Support knowledge transfer and assist with transition activities to ensure seamless payroll operations
  • Handle manual tax filings for select jurisdictions in collaboration with ADP Workforce Now
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing multi-state payroll processes, including Workday Payroll
  • Proven ability to manage payroll for large employee groups, preferably over 500 individuals
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, including manual tax filings
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and leave management processes
  • Experience working collaboratively with HR teams and providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work remotely and maintain core hours within Central or Mountain Time zones
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating attention to detail
  • Expertise in Workday and ADP Workforce Now systems
