Interim Head of Finance | Retail | Brighton. The Client: Harmonic are delighted to be working with a fast-growing retail brand to find them a Financial Controller on a 6-month day-rate contract, with the possibility of being transferred to permanent employment thereafter. Our client has experienced significant growth over the past several years and requires some extra expertise within their finance function. Operating both in stores and online, their unique products have been very well received, and they are garnering a large and loyal customer base. The role: This position will work directly with the CFO, as well as the oversight of several more junior colleagues in the finance team. The role will be broad, overseeing all aspects of finance and will require a candidate with excellent time management skills. Remaining hands on with the day-to-day finances is essential, however it is also vital that the successful candidate is able to take a step back and take an overall view of financial strategy. The ideal candidate would have proven experience as a Senior Finance manager, Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Finance Director, and be immediately available.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage strong internal financial controls
  • Monthly Management Accounts and month end close
  • End-to-end internal and external reporting
  • Point of contact for auditors
  • Stock reporting
  • VAT tax returns and working with tax consultants
  • Monitor cashflow
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review financial performance of the business

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Ability to work well independently when required, as well as part of a larger team
  • A willingness to roll up sleeves and get hands on with finance
  • Proven ability to improve financial processes
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a Retail and/or e-commerce
  • D2C experience would be preferred
  • Experience using a variety of finance systems
