Job Description:

The Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences is currently seeking an interim Deputy Head of the School (DHoS) in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Creative Industries which is one of the two schools in the faculty. The interim DHoS will line manage and offer support to the Heads of Department, helping them with the operational requirements of managing academic subjects and academic staff, whilst providing the knowledge and expertise to support the leadership of localized development and change. This is an interim senior leadership role that is responsible for providing direction and having strategic oversight of the responsibilities, purpose and function of the school to deliver the University’s strategic plan.

Job Responsibility:

  • Line manage and offer support to the Heads of Department
  • Help with the operational requirements of managing academic subjects and academic staff
  • Provide knowledge and expertise to support the leadership of localized development and change
  • Provide direction and have strategic oversight of the responsibilities, purpose and function of the school to deliver the University’s strategic plan
  • Support the Head of School to ensure that the diverse range of disciplines offered are delivered efficiently and effectively
  • Work across all campus locations as well as nationally and internationally

Requirements:

  • Good first degree or equivalent
  • Masters degree in a relevant subject to the school
  • Membership and experience of working with industry and relevant professional bodies
  • Track record of academic leadership
  • Personal credibility in a discipline within the school in terms of teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange
  • Experience of partnerships and transnational education
