Job Description:

Our client, a growing engineering services organization based in Greensboro, is seeking an Interim CFO to provide strategic financial leadership, stabilize and optimize finance operations, and support executive decision-making during a critical transition period. This role is fully onsite and will oversee a team of 10–15 finance and accounting professionals.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial planning, performance, and growth initiatives
  • Lead day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • provide actionable insights to drive profitability and cash flow optimization
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, processes, and reporting infrastructure
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring alignment with GAAP standards
  • Drive system optimization and reporting enhancements within NetSuite
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, project management, and leadership to align financial goals with business objectives
  • Support audit readiness, lender reporting, and potential strategic initiatives (e.g., scaling, system upgrades, process automation)
  • Coach and develop a team of 10–15 accounting/finance professionals, ensuring high performance and accountability

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in an engineering, professional services, or project-based environment
  • Hands-on expertise with NetSuite (required)
  • Experience with SuiteProjects (strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of project-based accounting, revenue recognition, and utilization metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and improve processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Track record of driving financial visibility, operational efficiency, and scalable reporting
  • CPA or MBA preferred
