This 6-month contract (3–4 days per week) is a high-impact Interim CFO role supporting a complex, growing fintech. You’ll lead the finance function’s day-to-day function while partnering closely with the CEO and leadership team on planning, performance, cashflow and key projects. The role blends hands-on delivery (year-end, reporting, budgeting, forecasting) with true CFO-level leadership across stakeholders, governance, risk and strategic decision support.
Job Responsibility:
Provide CFO-level leadership to the finance function, setting priorities and ensuring delivery across the month-end and reporting cycle
Own the annual budget process, partnering with business leaders to align targets and assumptions
Build and maintain a 3-year forecast and scenario models to support strategic planning and board conversations
Oversee management reporting and performance insights, translating numbers into clear commercial actions
Maintain a fit-for-purpose control environment, ensuring key processes are operating effectively as the business scales
Partner with auditors/advisers as required and ensure statutory and compliance deliverables are met
Lead the renewal of bank facilities, including lender reporting, covenant tracking, and stakeholder engagement
Lead a number of finance projects, which may include process improvement, reporting enhancements, system optimisation, and uplift of forecasting capability
Requirements:
Proven experience operating in a CFO / Head of Finance / Finance Director capacity within a fast-paced commercial environment
Strong budgeting, forecasting, and commercial modelling capability (including multi-year planning and scenario analysis)
Sound cashflow management and treasury fundamentals
Track record leading month-end close and guiding a finance team to consistent, high-quality output
Strong stakeholder engagement — able to influence senior leaders with clear, pragmatic recommendations
Financial Services exposure helpful but not essential (banking, insurance beneficial)
Comfortable leading ambiguity and delivering under tight timelines in a changing environment
CAANZ / CPA qualification preferred (or equivalent depth of experience)
