Job Description

Our North Dallas-based real estate client is seeking an experienced Interim Accounting Manager with a strong background in property accounting, real estate development accounting, and corporate accounting operations. This hands-on role will focus on stabilizing and improving accounting processes, cleaning up existing project accounting functions, enhancing reporting, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with Yardi, property and development accounting, cash management, budgeting, and process improvement within a real estate environment. This is a 2-4 month contract, 100% onsite in Dallas.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain and update property accounting workbooks
  • Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charge adjustments
  • Complete CAM reconciliations within Yardi
  • Reconcile job costs and tie-outs to the general ledger
  • Maintain treasury master schedules
  • Establish new projects within accounting systems
  • Review lease agreements and oversee accounting setup
  • Perform treasury functions related to property operations
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of property financial records
  • Pull draw invoices within established timelines
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations within the first three business days of the month
  • Generate and distribute tenant statements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience within real estate, property management, or development organizations
  • Prior experience serving as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager
  • Strong property accounting and development accounting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Yardi required
  • Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease accounting
  • Strong understanding of treasury management, budgeting, and cash forecasting
  • Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and controls
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Manage accounting support for payroll activity, including reporting, journal entries, templates, and workflow documentation
  • Record and refine weekly payroll entries for a large field employee population as well as bi-weekly entries for corporate and administrative staff
  • Build and maintain organized payroll records and tracking tools to improve visibility into recurring activity and proper business segment alignment
  • Clean, structure, and validate payroll and accounting data to enable more reliable reporting and downstream analysis
  • Identify process weaknesses, documentation gaps, and control issues, then implement practical improvements in collaboration with cross-functional partners
