Job Description

This role provides leadership and operational oversight of the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective team management. The Interim Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining fiscal integrity while supporting departmental and organizational objectives.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
  • Recommend, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, reports, forecasts, and projections
  • Lead, develop, and manage the accounting team by determining staffing needs, assigning workloads, setting performance goals, and resolving operational issues
  • Interview, select, train, coach, and evaluate direct reports while fostering a constructive and collaborative work environment
  • Participate in the development and management of Fiscal Services department budgets and support the Health System annual budget process
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis and provide actionable recommendations for operational and financial improvements
  • Support process improvement initiatives, documentation efforts, and special accounting projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience, including training, coaching, and developing staff
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and time-management abilities
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • PC proficiency required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
