This role provides leadership and operational oversight of the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective team management. The Interim Accounting Manager plays a critical role in maintaining fiscal integrity while supporting departmental and organizational objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
Recommend, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, reports, forecasts, and projections
Lead, develop, and manage the accounting team by determining staffing needs, assigning workloads, setting performance goals, and resolving operational issues
Interview, select, train, coach, and evaluate direct reports while fostering a constructive and collaborative work environment
Participate in the development and management of Fiscal Services department budgets and support the Health System annual budget process
Perform in-depth financial analysis and provide actionable recommendations for operational and financial improvements
Support process improvement initiatives, documentation efforts, and special accounting projects as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
Demonstrated supervisory experience, including training, coaching, and developing staff
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices
Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional organizational, leadership, and time-management abilities
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
PC proficiency required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Nice to have:
CPA or CPA-eligible
Prior experience within a healthcare or hospital environment
