Job Description

We are seeking an Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to provide leadership and hands-on support across core accounting functions during a transitional period. This role will oversee daily accounting operations while driving process improvements and strengthening reporting and controls. This is a highly visible role requiring a strong GAAP foundation, leadership capability, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, collections, payroll, invoicing, and cash disbursements
  • Manage and support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Provide interim leadership to a small team (1–2 staff), with oversight of broader accounting functions
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve customer AR inquiries and support ongoing business operations
  • Approve refunds and write-offs, and initiate wire transfers
  • Compile and analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Support annual financial statement audit and 401(k) audit processes
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements, particularly within credit and collections
  • Establish and track KPIs to improve cash flow, collections, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and enhance financial controls
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel
