We are seeking an Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to provide leadership and hands-on support across core accounting functions during a transitional period. This role will oversee daily accounting operations while driving process improvements and strengthening reporting and controls. This is a highly visible role requiring a strong GAAP foundation, leadership capability, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
Job Responsibility
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, collections, payroll, invoicing, and cash disbursements
Manage and support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Provide interim leadership to a small team (1–2 staff), with oversight of broader accounting functions
Partner cross-functionally to resolve customer AR inquiries and support ongoing business operations
Approve refunds and write-offs, and initiate wire transfers
Compile and analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
Support annual financial statement audit and 401(k) audit processes
Identify process gaps and implement improvements, particularly within credit and collections
Establish and track KPIs to improve cash flow, collections, and operational efficiency
Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
