The IASC secretariat provides support to the Emergency Relief Coordinator and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in their leadership of the IASC, including chairing key meetings and processes, facilitating communication among IASC members and the broader humanitarian community, developing policy, and providing strategic guidance for humanitarian response operations. The candidate will contribute to a wide range of tasks supporting the IASC Secretariat’s priorities, with a particular focus on the Humanitarian Reset agenda.
Job Responsibility:
Support planning and documentation of regular and ad hoc EDG meetings
Support research, documentation, and coordination related to the Humanitarian Reset
Support preparations for biannual in-person EDG meetings and EDG missions to crisis operations
Support monitoring of good practices and lessons learned in crisis contexts related to the Humanitarian Reset
Maintain up-to-date planning matrices to support strategic forward planning
Support the IASC Secretariat daily business and management
Requirements:
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
University degree in political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences, or a related field
Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams
Fluency in speaking, writing, reading, and understanding English
Nice to have:
Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)
