  • Proficiently perform safety checks on MCS devices and understand the appropriate steps when an unexpected or emergency situation occurs
  • Monitor pump functioning throughout patient therapy and maintain pump integrity
  • monitor circuit volume and administer products, medications and/or volumes as ordered
  • monitor anticoagulation, electrolyte acid-base balance and blood gas composition volumes and adjust MCS device to maintain physician orders
  • With the MCS coordinator, Intensivist APRN or perfusion set up and prime ECMO circuits
  • initiate and maintain extracorporeal life support according to protocols
