Job Responsibility

  • Manage Critical Care patients in a busy ICU
  • Create, direct, coordinate, and supervise the patient care plans daily
  • Conduct/order diagnostic tests, and analyze results and prescribe indicated treatments and therapies
  • Refer patients to medical specialists, social services or other professionals as appropriate
  • Work as part of an integrated team with care management, nursing, pharmacy, etc.
  • Assist in patient education and goal setting
  • Participate and adhere to all quality metrics and goals as established and directed by Adfinitas or the client/hospital
  • Partner with and oversee Advanced Practice Providers
  • Submit accurate and timely charges for all professional services performed
  • Lead Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) codes and Rapid Response Team evaluations
  • Attend committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate
  • Manage ventilators
  • Complete central lines
  • Perform intubations
  • Comply with policies and procedures regarding department operations
  • Establish and maintain records, reports and statistical data

  • BE/BC in Critical Care Medicine
  • Strong inpatient skill set

  • Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care
  • Active state license, American Heart Association CPR Certification, DEA License, state Controlled Substance Registration

  • Perform daily rounds on assigned ICU patients
  • Initiate disposition plan for assigned stable ICU patients including transfer to lower level of care or discharge
  • Initiate specialist consultation requests when indicated
  • Provide timely documentation of pertinent health evaluations (i.e. admission HPI, consultation note, progress note, discharge summary, procedure note)
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube thoracostomy)
  • Maintain ACLS and BLS certification to respond to cardiopulmonary arrests
  • Respond to inpatient cardiac arrests as integral member of Code Blue team
