Job Description

An elite City law firm is seeking a talented Intellectual Property Associate (1+ PQE) to join their leading Brands team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility for a permanent position. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established IP practice that acts for some of the most recognised UK and global brands. The role offers a high level of client contact, early responsibility, and the chance to engage with cross-border work across a variety of industries including retail, fashion, media, tech, and consumer goods.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing and advising on UK, EU and international trade mark portfolios
  • Handling clearance, filing, prosecution, oppositions, and enforcement matters
  • Advising on designs, copyright, brand strategy, and infringement issues
  • Working with a collaborative team of IP solicitors, trade mark attorneys, and paralegals
  • Contributing to client training, business development, and team-wide initiatives

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) or UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney with 1+ years' experience
  • Strong knowledge of soft IP law, including trade marks, designs, and copyright
  • Experience with UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO processes
  • A commercial mindset and confident communicator, comfortable advising brand owners and marketing teams
  • A team player with a proactive approach to client service and portfolio management
  • Language skills (especially French, German or Spanish) are a bonus, given the international client base
