Job Description

The role of the Integration and Technical Infrastructure Manager (ITIM) for the Datacenter Build Management team requires interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. We are seeking an Integration and Technical Infrastructure Manager with the ability to self-direct and who has a background in Data Center Construction, with an emphasis on telecom project/construction management. The ITIM is responsible for the project management of all integration and fit-out activities associated with MSFT owned system and/or services and critical infrastructure that is required to be installed into a new data center build or lease facility to deliver capacity to the business. The role requires the identification and management of scopes and interdependencies between all external and internal stakeholders and coordinating same with the physical construction with landlord and other vendors. The ITIM is responsible for coordinating the handover process and ensuring the required handover documentation and expectations are met to handover the space to our Operations teams and the business. The ITIM is responsible for producing and managing project plans and executing major milestones (Early Access, Ready Network Install, Corpnet Live, Security CX Complete, Fit Out Complete, Lockdown, Colo Ready) and for the financial approval and management function of these tasks on Microsoft own build projects. This position will be based in Annapolis Junction, MD, USA.

Job Responsibility

  • Be a relentless advocate for managing a safe worksite, supporting the implementation of the Microsoft High Risk Activity (HRA) program and work with our Construction PM and general contractor team to deliver trade collaboration methods to improve safe working and co-ordination of the job sites
  • Responsible for coordinating internal Microsoft scope and resource efforts, requirements, and schedules with those of the, General Contractor, Vendors and Suppliers to ensure a smooth and timely handover of the fitted out Data Center facility and capacity to the Microsoft Operations team and Business Groups
  • Coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and supporting specialty consultants to review, improve and execute the design
  • Responsible for the coordination of the telecom materials procurement, telecoms installation, Security systems installation, FFE procurement and installation
  • Coordination of the design, procurement, installation and turn up of the facility Corporate Network
  • In cooperation with the Construction Lead this position aligns metro wide delivery strategies to local team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts
  • Align with the Construction PM to agree delivery strategies across multi sites and manage a continuous improvement program that will result in a lean project delivery approach
  • Be the responsible identifying and managing stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables and handoffs for/with Microsoft Security (DCPS), Microsoft IT (CSE), DCI NE, Networking and Integrated services
  • Work alongside the DCD Construction manager and is responsible for the delivery of Integration and Technical Infrastructure scope and deliverables for the Air-Gapped Cloud (AGC) organization
  • Create and/or maintain practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions in line with evolving build program specification requirements and report on KPIs for the same
  • Manage the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partners
  • Drive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally across DCD build projects
  • Facilitate client/sponsor decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required
  • Apply influence, strategies and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions
  • Regularly reviews cost and KPI metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to client partners
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned in support of the Construction PM
  • Attend scheduled Integration meeting and other project meetings, and report as necessary
  • Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget in relation to the Integration scope and packages as required
  • Provide weekly project status reporting to Data Center Execution standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, OR related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
  • Candidates must have an active TS and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph)
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role
  • This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, OR related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
  • 7+ years experience working on data center projects
  • 5+ years’ experience in IT fit out or construction related project management
  • Familiarity with ICD 705/Tempest
  • PMI (Project Management Institute) – PMP (Project Management Professional) certification highly desired
