Based at our satellite provision at Brighton Metropolitan College, you will play a crucial role in the delivery, teaching, and course leadership to learners while ensuring that the service provided aligns with our values of respect, inclusion, and individual growth.
Job Responsibility:
Inspire and support learners of all abilities, teaching a broad range of subjects within the St John's College curriculum, including functional skills in literacy and numeracy
Tailor your teaching to suit the individual needs of students, ensuring they are motivated and supported in their educational journey
Ensure the development of personal learning plans (ILPs) for students, conducting initial assessments and regular reviews to track progress
Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, ensuring every learner receives the service they need to succeed, both academically and in their future careers
Work closely with the St John's Curriculum Management team and our co-located mainstream college partners to coordinate learners' access to mainstream learning opportunities
Collaborate with external partners, employers, and schools to enrich the learning experience and support work placements and community engagement
Maintain accurate records, monitor learners' progress, and contribute to the preparation for internal and external inspections
Ensure compliance with College policies and safeguarding regulations, and participate in quality assurance processes
Embrace and promote a culture of diversity, working alongside the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), EDI committee, and staff to implement and evaluate our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategy
Requirements:
Proven experience in teaching students with a range of abilities and needs, including functional skills in literacy and numeracy
A deep understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments that celebrate and value difference
Strong communication skills, an empathetic approach to teaching, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
A commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to mentor assistants and volunteers
A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and a dedication to creating a safe and supportive environment for all learners
