Job Responsibility
Receive, review, and process incoming referrals, admissions requests, and patient inquiries while ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up
Communicate with patients, family members, physicians, case managers, hospitals, and referral partners to gather required documentation and coordinate admissions
Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and payer requirements to support a smooth intake process
Maintain accurate patient records, intake documentation, admission logs, and electronic medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
Coordinate closely with clinical, scheduling, billing, and operations teams to facilitate timely patient onboarding and continuity of care
Requirements
2+ years of experience in patient intake, admissions, patient access, medical office administration, healthcare customer service, or a related healthcare support role
Experience verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating patient admissions or referrals
Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology, HIPAA requirements, and medical office procedures
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage high-volume caseloads
Nice to have
Experience in home health, hospice, skilled nursing, behavioral health, hospital admissions, or specialty healthcare settings
Familiarity with Medicare, Medi-Cal, commercial insurance plans, and managed care organizations
Bilingual skills are a plus
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and healthcare experience preferred
