Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist for a contract-to-hire position with one of our valued healthcare clients. Job Responsibility:

  • Review patient details and scheduled procedures, and identify any required medical implants
  • Verify insurance benefits by communicating with payers via phone or online platforms
  • Calculate estimated patient amount due based on insurance contracts and procedure specifics
  • Document all insurance and billing interactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain thorough records using provided templates and forms
  • Contact patients prior to scheduled procedures to discuss payment responsibilities and attempt pre-collection
  • Identify and obtain any necessary pre-authorizations or precertifications
  • Monitor daily activity to ensure all patients are verified for upcoming procedures
  • Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism, contributing to positive survey results and overall satisfaction
  • Escalate any billing discrepancies, challenging interactions, or unwillingness to pay to management

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience in insurance verification
  • Excellent communication skills—comfortable speaking with patients over phone and in person
  • Typing skills (minimum 45 wpm)
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment as needed
  • Familiarity with patient accounting software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
  • Ability to read and comprehend insurance benefit and managed care documentation
