Job Responsibility:
Review patient details and scheduled procedures, and identify any required medical implants
Verify insurance benefits by communicating with payers via phone or online platforms
Calculate estimated patient amount due based on insurance contracts and procedure specifics
Document all insurance and billing interactions accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain thorough records using provided templates and forms
Contact patients prior to scheduled procedures to discuss payment responsibilities and attempt pre-collection
Identify and obtain any necessary pre-authorizations or precertifications
Monitor daily activity to ensure all patients are verified for upcoming procedures
Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism, contributing to positive survey results and overall satisfaction
Escalate any billing discrepancies, challenging interactions, or unwillingness to pay to management
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
1+ years of experience in insurance verification
Excellent communication skills—comfortable speaking with patients over phone and in person
Typing skills (minimum 45 wpm)
Ability to operate standard office equipment as needed
Familiarity with patient accounting software
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
Ability to read and comprehend insurance benefit and managed care documentation
