We are looking for 10 dedicated Insurance Referral Coordinators to join our healthcare client in Oakland, California. In this is a 3–4-month contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring seamless coordination of patient care by managing insurance referrals and related administrative tasks. Job Responsibility:
Coordinate referral appointments for patients, ensuring all necessary details are accurately documented
Maintain and update patient records to reflect referral and insurance information
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to support patient care processes
Obtain prior authorizations for referrals and procedures as required
Make outbound calls to patients and providers, with an average of 60+ calls daily
Provide administrative support to the healthcare team, ensuring efficient workflow
Deliver exceptional customer service to patients and providers, addressing inquiries promptly
Collaborate with colleagues to streamline referral generation and authorization processes
Focus exclusively on scheduling external referrals currently pending (approximately 2,500 referrals)
Contact specialty offices to secure appointments
Document scheduling activity accurately in the EMR system and Transportation Calendar
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure referral progression
Schedule of 30 appointments per day
Meet or exceed daily outreach and documentation targets
Contribute to measurable reduction of referral backlog within the 90-day assignment period
Maintain accuracy and timeliness in documentation to support regulatory compliance
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare or insurance referral coordination role
Strong knowledge of referral generation, authorization, and verification processes
Proficiency in patient intake procedures and maintaining accurate medical records
Familiarity with Medisoft or similar healthcare software
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Exceptional communication skills for handling calls and interacting with patients and providers
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a healthcare setting
