Job Description

Our client, a well-established, boutique law firm, is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Legal Assistant to support a busy litigation practice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and experience handling insurance defense matters in a fast-paced legal environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys handling insurance defense cases
  • Prepare, format and proofread legal documents, correspondence, pleadings and reports
  • File documents with state and federal courts, including e-filing
  • Maintain case files, calendars and deadlines for hearings, depositions, mediations and trials
  • Coordinate attorney schedules and communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel and vendors
  • Draft routine legal documents and assist with discovery, subpoenas and trial preparation
  • Review and organize medical records, claim files and other case-related materials
  • Track billable time, process expense reports and assist with monthly billing tasks

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant in insurance defense or civil litigation
  • Strong knowledge of court filing procedures, rules and litigation deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative legal team
