Job Description

We're working with a well-established insurance business to appoint a Client Director to take on an existing portfolio of mid-market commercial clients. This is a role centred on ownership, continuity, and trusted relationships-ideal for someone who takes pride in looking after clients properly and becoming a dependable, long-term partner to their businesses. You'll inherit a portfolio generating c. £350k-£400k income, made up of established clients across a broad mix of sectors within general commercial insurance. Clients are based across the Kent region and outer South East, with the office in Maidstone. The role is hybrid, combining time in the office with regular client visits. Your focus will be on maintaining strong relationships, understanding each client's needs, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality service. This is not a volume-driven role-it's about doing the right thing for clients and building long-term trust. You'll also bring a strong technical grounding, acting as a credible point of reference when needed and contributing to the overall standard of delivery across the team.

Job Responsibility

  • Take ownership of an established portfolio of mid-market commercial clients
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships through regular client engagement
  • Provide clear, tailored advice across a range of commercial risks
  • Ensure consistency and continuity in service delivery
  • Work closely with internal teams to deliver a seamless client experience
  • Offer technical input on more complex cases when required

Requirements

  • Experience in a client-facing commercial insurance role
  • Strong knowledge across general commercial insurance
  • Comfortable managing an existing book and maintaining client relationships
  • A steady, relationship-led approach with strong communication skills
  • Confident, credible and able to build trust with clients quickly
  • Happy working in a hybrid role with travel across the region

What we offer

  • 26 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Support towards professional qualifications (CII / ACII)
  • 24-hour wellbeing support
  • Flexible benefits tailored to you and your family, including health, lifestyle and protection options
  • Additional perks such as gym discounts, medical cover and retail savings
