Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Insurance Authorization Coordinator to join our team in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a critical role in managing insurance-related tasks and ensuring accurate billing practices for ambulance services. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a solid understanding of medical insurance processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyze denied or underpaid claims and prepare detailed appeals with supporting documentation to secure proper reimbursement
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements before or after transport to ensure claims are submitted accurately
  • Handle inbound calls from patients to address account balances, explain charges, and provide guidance on payment options or necessary corrections
  • Document all actions, conversations, and next steps thoroughly in the billing system to maintain accurate account records
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to gather required information, clarify service details, and resolve payer concerns
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal procedures to maintain adherence to billing standards
  • Utilize billing software and payer portals effectively to process claims and manage account information
  • Conduct additional tasks as needed to support the billing department and overall operations

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in medical billing, insurance follow-up, or revenue cycle operations is preferred
  • ambulance billing experience is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of insurance terminology, claim processes, and denial codes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in using billing software, payer portals, and general computer applications
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and account management
  • Familiarity with compliance standards related to medical billing practices
