Execute tasks, as outlined in technical documents, including the assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of instrument and process control equipment in compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and procedures
Interpret technical documents to assess and plan task sequences, required materials, and selection of appropriate tools and PPE, requesting clarification when necessary
Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting to identify hazards/ malfunctions at the component level
repairing, replacing, or reporting deficiencies as required
Perform work in a remote offshore location with requirement to work in confined spaces, work from heights, in hazardous EX rated areas near operating equipment
Work collaboratively in a multi-discipline team environment, focused on the efficient and safe completion of all assigned tasks including reporting of daily work progress to supervisors
Take an active role in maintaining a safe work environment through participation in all HSSE programs and initiatives including, but not limited to, toolbox talks, safety observations, job hazard analysis,. and ensuring personal compliance with all site rules and procedures
Ensure all required training, certification, and medical assessments for continued competency in role are maintained and completed in a timely manner
Ensure a continued commitment to meet all other requirements set out by Aker Solutions and/or our clients/vendors
Requirements
Inter-provincial Journeyperson Certificate- Instrument and Control or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology
5 years’ experience as a journeyperson or IET
All mandatory training outlined in the CAAP Standard Practice for the Training and indicated Qualifications of Offshore Personnel
In depth understanding of applicable local regulatory codes and practices within the instrumentation and controls discipline and their application in an operating/brownfield environment
Awareness of the overall purpose of work management systems (PTW) in an operating/brownfield environment, the work scopes that would require permitting, and significant experience performing work scopes under permit including, but not limited to, lock out-tag out protocols, zero energy isolation, confined space entry
Interpretation of specifications through engineering drawings and work packs including, but not limited to, P&ID’s, loop diagrams, installation details, schematics, control logics, specifications, & equipment manuals
Diagnostic testing methods and troubleshooting of instrument and process control system malfunctions, failures, and system faults in integrated control and safety systems (ICSS), process control systems (PCS), distributed control systems (DCS), emergency control systems (ESD) and fire and gas systems (FGS)
Installation/removal and repair (where applicable) of cable trays, cable and glanding systems, instrument tubing systems and tray. This includes the necessary testing requirements and both LP and HP tubing
Installation/removal, calibration/repair/testing (where applicable) of transmitters and their associated wiring
Awareness and practical experience with the installation, installation/repair of electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic control equipment
Ability to formally document and submit field level modifications as red-lined drawings, field level walk downs and mechanical completion check sheets, and all other inputs required for technical records
Awareness and practical experience with the application of various instrument measuring devices (i.e., process meters, HART communicator, etc.)
Understanding of the hazards and risks associated with instrument components/ systems and the importance of maintaining operational integrity in an operating environment, including standard preventative and predictive maintenance practices that may be applied as outlined in regulations, codes, or client/company standards
Understanding and practical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrument components in EX rated areas, including the characteristics of components used and precautions taken when working in the area
Awareness of the varied safety systems & protocols used to ensure work is performed safely – JHA, Observations, toolbox talks, permit sign on, etc.
