Job Responsibility

  • Install and maintain instrument piping systems including stainless steel tubing and small bore pipework
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric diagrams
  • Fabricate and fit pipework using techniques such as threading, welding, brazing, and compression fittings (e.g., Swagelok)
  • Conduct pressure testing and ensure systems meet safety and quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineers and other trades on-site to ensure timely and accurate installation
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and adhere to health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pipefitter, ideally with a focus on instrumentation
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiarity with industrial standards and practices (e.g., BS, ISO)
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications
  • CSCS or JIB card (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel and work on various sites across the UK

Nice to have

  • Experience with Swagelok or similar compression fittings
  • Knowledge of hazardous area installations and ATEX compliance
  • Additional certifications in welding or pressure testing

  • Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery
  • Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems
  • Use various hand or power tools for measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, bending, soldering, assembling, joining, and installing pipes, valves, and fittings
  • Read and interpret blueprints for the mechanical operation and assembly of conveyor systems, material handling systems, robots, and other automation
