Job Description

The Instructor supports the immediate and ongoing education needs of patients, parents, and families in the communities served by BSWH.

Job Responsibility

  • Consults with the Program Coordinator for program planning, implementation and evaluation in order to meet patient, parent and community needs
  • Collects and assesses data and information related to education needs and other pertinent situations, including identification of trends, issues and supporting data to determine a comprehensive education program for parents, community members and nurses including virtual (on-line) and classroom
  • Develops and delivers/coordinates other educational program as directed (e.g., Grand Rounds, in-service) to support competence and professional growth of the community and nursing staff
  • Promotes and cultivates positive relationships with the hospital and the community to foster positive image and relationships with BSWH

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to set up online and in person classes and support groups
  • Technical skills and working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, virtual technology (Zoom, Teams, Webex)
  • Ability to teach skills and demonstrate clearly using examples or props as needed
  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience

Nice to have

  • Certification in childbirth education (CCCE/LCCE)
  • Certified Breastfeeding Counselor
  • Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Certification in Education
  • BLS
  • RN
  • Experience with prenatal/postpartum/ L&D
  • Childbirth Educator and ICBLC, CLC, or breastfeeding educator certificate preferred
