Keyano College’s School of Health and Human Services is currently seeking Child and Youth Care Contract Instructors for the Childhood Studies program area for the Winter 2026 semester (January 8 – April 28, 2026). The program will equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and practical experience to work with children and youth experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties and engage with children, youth and families utilizing a strength based and relational approach to support development and positive change. The successful candidates will teach primarily in the Child and Youth Care program but may also teach across the school of Health and Human Services.
Job Responsibility:
Instruct courses, primarily in the Child and Youth Care diploma
Maintain office hours and student mentorship/engagement
Perform field supervision and practicum support
Engage with community stakeholders
Maintain professional competence and knowledge of subject matter
Participate in program and curriculum development
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Child and Youth Care or related field is preferred (counselling, psychology, family social science, justice, or social work)
Minimum Bachelors Degree in Child and Youth Care is required
Extensive experience working with at-risk and vulnerable children and youth
Demonstrated excellence in planning, and organizational skills
Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
A thorough knowledge and understanding about the specific role of Child and Youth Care practitioners in the support of Indigenous, newcomer and refugee children, youth, and families
Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
Nice to have:
Previous instructional experience in adult education or post secondary learning environments
Experience with field education
