The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University invites dynamic and innovative educators to apply for full-time, career line faculty positions within our new common first-year engineering program. These positions are designed to empower students from all engineering disciplines as they embark on their academic journey. Faculty hired through this search will have an affiliated appointment in one of our traditional engineering departments (Mechanical, Electrical and Computer, Biomedical and Chemical, or Civil and Environmental Engineering), but will primarily teach foundational courses in the first-year curriculum, including courses in engineering fundamentals and engineering for grand challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Teach foundational courses in first-year program
Curriculum development
Mentoring/advising first-year students
Engage in departmental service activities
Serve on college or university committees
Conduct and publish high-impact research in engineering education, maintaining a national or international scholarly reputation
Lead interdisciplinary research in engineering education efforts and collaborate with colleagues to secure external funding
Requirements:
Instructor: MS in an engineering discipline or other relevant field
A commitment to supporting student success through culturally responsive pedagogy, mentorship, and advising
Assistant Professor: PhD in an engineering discipline or other relevant field
A commitment to supporting student success through culturally responsive pedagogy, mentorship, and advising
Associate Professor: PhD in an engineering discipline or other relevant field
5+ years of teaching experience in an academic setting
Demonstrated leadership in promoting student success through culturally responsive pedagogy, mentorship, and advising
Nice to have:
Experience developing curriculum with socially/culturally relevant topics (real world applications to engineering) using universal design for learning
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate students and their success through mentoring, engagement with high-impact practices (e.g., undergraduate research, learning communities), and/or involvement with student groups
Demonstrated experience designing course materials and learning environments that support the success of students from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
Demonstrated experience providing mentorship, advising, active allyship and advocacy, and/or commitment to personal/professional growth
