The Instructional Designer will contribute to company and team success by identifying and documenting learning needs and creating a plan for the creation or update of engaging training meet these needs. They will initiate and manage all phases of the instructional content creation process for all lines of business within the company.
Job Responsibility:
Organizes and leads meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify, understand and document learning needs
Develops clear Key Learning Points (KLPs) based on identified learning needs and objectives
Creates targeted questions that align with learning objectives
Translates learning objectives into a detailed storyboard
Ensures that the storyboard aligns with instructional goals and quality standards
Collects and manages media and learning assets required for content development
Crafts the final script
Researches questions regarding content accuracy upon request
Proactively researches impact of business changes on learning materials
Maintains ongoing communication with leadership throughout each topic project
Accurately documents work processes and decisions for future reference
Regularly updates training course images, scripts, and materials
Periodically audits and updates files to ensure accuracy
Creates and champions process improvements
Collaborates and consults with various SMEs and teams
Recommends enhancements to the learning experience
Works with training metrics team to ensure learning objectives are being met
Assists with strategic planning of topic documentation and tracking mechanisms
Reviews requested edits
Participates in audio recording, video productions, or photo shoots
All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
3-5 years’ of operational experience with O’Reilly stores and distribution centers
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong documentation skills
Excellent human relations skills
Self-motivated, organized, accurate detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of O’Reilly operations, policies, and procedures
Nice to have:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Course credit or a degree in instructional design, education/teaching, training, management, organizational communications, psychology, or a related field
Knowledge / understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, multimedia production, graphic design, or other development software
Experience with e-Learning course development tools, such as Articulate or similar platforms
Fluency in Spanish or French languages (written and spoken)
