Job Description

The Community Schools Coordinator works within assigned component school districts and across the W-FL BOCES organization to develop, implement, and sustain the community school model. This role focuses on aligning school, family, and community resources to support student success and strengthen school-community partnerships.

Job Responsibility

  • Work with component district administration to develop and implement the community school approach which is to be aligned with district and regional priorities
  • Serve on assigned steams as representing community school concepts
  • Provide leadership to promote the community school model through technical assistance to component districts in advancing community schools concepts
  • Facilitate focus groups of administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, and students identifying areas of strength and challenges within the school
  • Develop an inventory that outlines resources and gaps in service
  • Utilize data from various sources to organize partnerships and supports to meet school regional needs
  • Align community and school resources to ensure coherence without duplication of services
  • Direct family engagement and involvement in collaboration with school staff and administration
  • Develop opportunities to allow underrepresented parents a voice while providing schools with needed feedback from parents traditionally disengaged from school
  • Coordinate and align school, district, community, and regional resources to ensure coherent service delivery and minimize duplication of services across component districts
  • Maintain records and data necessary for program evaluation
  • Plan, coordinate, and support district and regional events, trainings, workshops, and activities designed to strengthen school-community-family partnerships
  • Facilitate organization and oversight of any necessary paperwork including participating in the RFP (Request for Proposals) process within the W-FL BOCES organization. This also includes Coordinate, organize, and oversee required documentation, communications, contracts, and operational processes related to community school programming and partnerships. Ensure alignment with program goals, compliance requirements and district expectations
  • Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for P16 and their designee as deemed necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

Requirements

  • New York State Certification in Teaching, Social Work, or School Counseling required
  • Demonstrated experience as an educator providing support services to students and families
  • Strong knowledge of community school models, family engagement strategies, and collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to analyze data and use findings to inform program development and decision-making
  • Strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations and engaging underrepresented families

Nice to have

School District Administrator certification or equivalent preferred
