The Inspection Engineer is responsible for performing third-party inspection, testing, and certification activities for lifting equipment and cranes, primarily within the oil and gas sector, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards, client specifications, and local regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibility
Conduct inspection, testing, and certification of lifting equipment and cranes, including but not limited to: mobile cranes, offshore cranes, tower cranes, lifting appliances, lifting gears, and accessories
Perform inspections during various phases: initial inspection, periodic and annual inspections, load testing and re-certification
Review engineering drawings, lifting plans, technical documents, and manufacturer data books (MDB)
Ensure inspection activities comply with applicable international standards (ISO, EN, ASME, API, etc.), client specifications and project requirements, Bureau Veritas internal procedures and codes
Prepare accurate inspection reports, certificates, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) in a timely manner
Liaise with clients, contractors, and site personnel to clarify technical issues and inspection findings
Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions to ensure personnel safety and asset integrity
Maintain professional conduct and uphold Bureau Veritas values, ethics, and impartiality at all times
Support audits, client meetings, and technical discussions when required
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
Mechanical Engineer License – Level 2 (mandatory)
Minimum 5 years of working experience in the Oil & Gas industry
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in inspection of lifting equipment, cranes and lifting accessories
Prior experience working with third-party inspection agencies is an advantage
Strong knowledge of lifting equipment safety standards and regulations
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Familiarity with inspection and testing techniques for cranes and lifting equipment
Good understanding of risk assessment and safe working practices
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision
Willingness to travel to site locations and work in offshore/onshore environments
Proficient in MS Office and inspection reporting systems
