Job Description

Join RotoruaNZ as an Insights Analyst and help shape the future of our region through data-driven decision-making. RotoruaNZ is the region’s economic development and destination management organisation, working to grow a vibrant, sustainable economy for Rotorua and its people. We are seeking an experienced and curious Insights Analyst to turn data, dashboards, and research into clear, actionable insights that inform decisions across our organisation, Board, Council, iwi partners, and the wider region. This is an opportunity to play a key role in how Rotorua understands its performance, identifies opportunities, and plans for the future.

Job Responsibility

  • Translate complex datasets into clear insights and compelling narratives for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting that support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of RotoruaNZ’s research programme, including visitor, economic, and sector insights
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify key questions and provide evidence-based answers
  • Use AI and modern analytics tools to accelerate analysis, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of insights

Requirements

  • Experience in data analysis, insights, or research roles, ideally within economic development, tourism, or public sector environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate it clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with data tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel, SQL, or similar) and a willingness to explore emerging AI tools
  • A structured, curious mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • An understanding of the Rotorua region and the ability to work respectfully with iwi and community stakeholders is highly valued
