Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Design Innovation, the Senior Innovation Design Manager works in collaboration with cross functional team members to effectively develop and deliver business & design strategies and compelling designed experiences (brand, product, packaging, retail, merchandising) that have strategic business value.

Job Responsibility

  • Working in collaboration with cross functional team members to effectively develop and deliver business & design strategies and compelling designed experiences (brand, product, packaging, retail, merchandising) that have strategic business value
  • Responsible for the delivery of effective design thinking & innovation projects for PepsiCo’s businesses
  • Partner with teams in delivering strategies that can identify new opportunities, new products, and new experience that deliver against business goals
  • Translate those strategies into testable prototypes and evaluate them against desirability, feasibility, viability, and sustainability
  • Manage the ambiguity inherent in innovation & design processes
  • Provide input into innovation & design proposals, to execute against creative engagements and visualize the desired creative output
  • Pollinate design thinking within the organization through practical design methodologies, solving complex business problems and uncovering transformation opportunities
  • Lead strategy, planning, project management
  • Lead projects and engage with a variety of stakeholders to get input and assess options
  • Synthesize research and business needs to ensure identified opportunities & design strategies result in sustainable growth and returns
  • Champion design thinking across the organization, educating while collaborating
  • Draw on diverse perspectives to solve design problems and drive effective solutions
  • Articulate design vision through prototyping, scenario modeling, strategic roadmaps
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, marketers, media teams to cross-pollinate ideas, methods, and approaches

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience, with a minimum of 6 years (recent) in a strategic design role
  • Bachelors degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Engineering, and/or Business or equivalent years of experience
  • Proven experience in Brand Strategy, Design Strategy, Innovation & Product Development
  • Proven track record of strong leadership, team management skills and a strategic acumen
  • Superior project management and design management skills

  • Compelling presentation and proposal skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work in ambiguous and dynamic work environment
  • is comfortable with risk and uncertainty
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time

  • Lead the formulation work-stream in multiple projects to deliver formulation changes which are safe, compatible with packaging and supply chain, and meet consumer and brand requirements. Ensure the products undergo relevant technical testing

  • Actively participate in departmental initiatives, processes and maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping and safety. Supports training and provides technical support for colleagues
  • Champion Axe new product mixes to ensure alignment with defined consumer needs. Support the delivery of technical storytelling and activation for innovation projects across relevant customers and channels
