The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network and infrastructure systems across a multi-building environment. This individual will serve as a hands-on technical resource, owning day-to-day network operations while also leading infrastructure upgrades and modernization efforts. The role requires a strong networking foundation combined with the ability to support systems, users, and ongoing projects in a small, fast-paced IT environment.
Job Responsibility
Design, implement, and support LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless networks, and core infrastructure across multiple locations, including switches, routers, VLANs, and trunking
Troubleshoot and resolve network and connectivity issues, serving as the escalation point and primary responder for outages and performance problems
Manage and maintain network hardware and environments, including configuring switches, upgrading access points, and supporting infrastructure across multiple buildings
Support infrastructure projects such as wireless upgrades, security deployments, COLO environment setup, and migration from legacy systems to modern platforms
Provide hands-on support across IT operations, including end-user support, server configuration, virtualization support, and general infrastructure maintenance
Requirements
Strong networking expertise, including switches, routers, VLANs, trunking, VPNs, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting
Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls (Fortinet preferred), MFA, access controls, and secure connectivity (IPsec VPNs)
Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and enterprise network services, with the ability to manage and troubleshoot core infrastructure components
Experience with wireless networking platforms (e.g., Meraki, Ruckus) and supporting large-scale access point deployments
Hands-on experience with server environments and virtualization, including Windows/Linux administration and VM support (Nutanix or similar preferred)
Ability to work in a small, hands-on environment supporting both infrastructure and end users, with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
