Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and implementation of a secure, scalable hybrid cloud infrastructure. This contract role is critical to the department’s transition from on-premise systems to a hybrid model using Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The architect will serve as a senior technical advisor and mentor, providing hands-on leadership, structured knowledge transfer, and expert-level support across cloud and on-prem environments.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and lead the implementation of hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, on-prem)
  • Define integration strategies for legacy and cloud-native systems
  • Develop infrastructure standards, lifecycle strategies, and modernization roadmaps
  • Act as Level 4 technical expert for infrastructure, networking, and virtualization
  • Provide hands-on leadership in system implementation, maintenance, and optimization
  • Deliver after-hours support during migrations, outages, and critical events
  • Mentor IT staff on Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure Backup, and Endpoint Manager
  • Design secure architectures aligned with CJIS, NIST, and local/state law enforcement standards
  • Oversee identity and access management (AD, Azure AD, Entra ID, AWS IAM, MFA, RBAC)
  • Manage PKI infrastructure and ensure secure connectivity and auditability
  • Lead phased migration of workloads to Azure and AWS
  • Architect hybrid networking (VPN, SD-WAN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect)
  • Automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, PowerShell, CloudFormation)
  • Maintain detailed documentation (diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, recovery plans)
  • Conduct formal and informal training sessions for internal IT staff
  • Prepare compliance documentation for audits and internal reviews

Requirements:

  • 8+ years in enterprise infrastructure roles with hybrid/cloud focus
  • Expert-level knowledge of: Azure, AWS, VMware/Hyper-V
  • Expert-level knowledge of: Enterprise networking (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
  • Expert-level knowledge of: Storage systems (SAN, NAS, Object Storage)
  • Expert-level knowledge of: Identity and access management
  • Expert-level knowledge of: Infrastructure automation (Terraform, PowerShell, ARM, CloudFormation)
  • Strong understanding of CJIS, NIST, or FedRAMP frameworks
  • Proven experience mentoring technical teams and delivering structured training
  • Background in public-sector or regulated IT environments

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting law enforcement, justice, or public safety agencies
  • Familiarity with RMS, CAD, body camera/evidence systems, or large data ingestion
  • Relevant certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Relevant certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
  • Relevant certifications: CISSP, VMware VCAP, Cisco CCNP/CCIE
