Job Description

Our Higher Education client based in the South West is searching for a Locum Information Governance Officer to join their growing team. They are seeking an experienced individual to come on a contract basis with an ASAP start, for an initial minimum term with the possibility of extension. This is a fully remote opportunity, with all necessary IT equipment shipped directly to the successful candidate.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing and responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in line with statutory deadlines
  • Handling Subject Access Requests (SARs) and ensuring compliance with data protection legislation
  • Supporting the completion and review of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) across university departments
  • Providing advice and guidance on information governance, data protection, and records management matters
  • Supporting wider information governance project work as required across the institution

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an Information Governance or Data Protection focused role
  • Strong working knowledge of FOI legislation, SAR handling, UK GDPR, and wider data protection frameworks
  • Availability to start ASAP

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working within the Higher Education / University sector
  • Experience supporting or leading information governance project work
  • Knowledge of governance challenges specific to large, complex public sector organisations
