Job Responsibility

  • Analyzes customer information requirements and product specifications to define technical content strategy and plan.
  • Designs and develops written and/or visual product-related information – hard copy, web - (e.g., user/configuration/deployment/troubleshooting guides), and online information (interactive demos, help systems) integrated into product, for a variety of audiences (end user, system administrators, internal support engineers, product developers, training developers).
  • Codes, builds, compiles, and tests online information and/or sets-up, loads and tests systems hardware to create information deliverables and provide feedback on ease of use and user interfaces to product development.
  • As customer advocate, helps define/refine product requirements.
  • Interfaces with cross-functional areas as a member of the product development team, such as marketing, test, support, and manufacturing.
  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues and recommends appropriate alternatives.
  • Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope.
  • May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.
  • Exercises independent judgment to identify and select a solution.
  • Ability to handle most unique situations.

Requirements

  • Typically a First Level University degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science or related technical/communications field and a minimum of 4-6 years related experience or an Advanced University degree and 2-4 years experience or equivalent
  • Understands concepts and develops in-depth working knowledge of products, applications and systems in assigned area of responsibility
  • Ability to deliver on multiple project technical requirements, schedules, and information formats
  • Codes in DITA, HTML, DHTML, XML JavaScript or similar as required. May provide help systems that are integrated with software products that use proprietary coding methods
  • Some experience in Private Cloud technologies such as VMware, etc
  • Ability to quickly understand and adopt new, complex tools, technologies, systems.
  • Project management and process development skills.
  • Expertise working with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Leadership, communication, change management, and relationship management skills.
