Job Description:

Join Encompass Health, the nation's largest inpatient rehabilitation provider, as an Infection Preventionist, where your expertise will help ensure our patients receive the highest standards of care. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead efforts to prevent and control infections, collaborating closely with the healthcare team to implement and monitor infection prevention practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program
  • Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines
  • Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances
  • Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards
  • Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections
  • Educate staff on infection control protocols
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies
  • Develop and maintain infection control standards meeting regulatory guidelines

Requirements:

  • Current license or certification as a medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician, or registered nurse
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a healthcare field
  • 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice
  • Training in infection control and/or epidemiology
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights as needed
