The Industry Analyst Commodity Trading at BCG Platinion supports clients and teams in the energy sector by providing expertise in commodity trading, energy trading, and digital transformation. The role involves analyzing market trends, evaluating and implementing trading and risk management solutions, and developing digital platforms.
Job Responsibility:
Support clients and teams in commodity trading with expert knowledge of market trends, technological implications, solution evaluation, and benchmarking — from requirements analysis through to implementation
Rework and redesign client-specific solutions, including commodity and energy trading and risk management (CTRM/ETRM), portfolio management, forecasting, planning, and logistics solutions, as well as digital data platforms and tools for value measurement and optimization
Develop demos, PoCs, and MVPs for digital trading use cases (e.g., back-office automation, GenAI-enabled market briefings) — taking concepts from prototype to enterprise-ready blueprint
Actively advance internal knowledge management by contributing to the development of new IT expertise in energy trading
Create training materials and presentations for consultants while enabling the provision of proprietary sales, service, and grid platforms
Enhance delivery quality by developing and sharing methodological approaches, including ensuring adherence to industry best practices for delivery teams in the energy sector
Requirements:
Successfully completed a degree in (Business) Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
At least two years of relevant experience in the implementation of energy utility solutions within an industrial company, software provider, or consulting environment
Experience with DevOps as well as release, environment, and test management
Both theoretical and hands-on experience in developing and configuring industry-standard energy utility software (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Powercloud, SIV, Wilken)
Initial experience working with sales, service, or grid system landscapes, including core systems, interfaces, and current trends in data landscape development
Strong analytical and conceptual skills
Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
