Lyft’s Longueuil facility is looking for a highly motivated Industrialization Engineer Intern to join our Manufacturing & Operations team. This team plays a critical role in producing and delivering bikeshare equipment across the world. As part of this dynamic environment, you will contribute directly to improving our production, quality, and warehouse processes. This internship is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to communicate effectively while working with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibility:
Support optimization of material flow and factory/warehouse layout, including mapping current-state processes and proposing improvements to reduce waste and operator travel
Conduct cycle time studies across assembly and warehouse processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements for throughput and line balancing
Audit SOP adherence on the production floor to ensure operators follow documented processes
identify gaps and support corrective actions or SOP updates as needed
Lead and participate in 5S activities, performing audits, proposing improvements, and helping implement visual controls and workplace organization standards
Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, and Assembly teams to investigate operational issues, gather insights, and support cross-functional problem-solving
Analyze operational data (cycle times, UPH, takt alignment, workflow delays) and generate recommendations to improve productivity and reduce waste
Build dashboards and live reporting tools to track KPIs such as throughput, WIP levels, cycle times, and SOP compliance, enabling real-time decision-making
Document processes clearly and develop visual work instructions, standard work sheets, and layout diagrams to support operator training and process consistency
Support continuous improvement projects, including ergonomic assessments, workstation redesigns, and tooling/fixture enhancements
Assist with layout changes, workstation validation, and process readiness during engineering changes (ECOs) or new product introductions
Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and operational flow based on observations and feedback from teams on the floor
Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, Operation Engineering or a related field from a university in Canada, with a graduation date between December 2025 and Summer 2026 (required)
For any candidates who are Master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
1-2 years of experience (internships or entry-level roles) in technical support, operations, or customer service
Strong written and verbal communication skills in (1) French AND (2) English
Familiarity with Just in time manufacturing principles
Familiarity with AutoCAD
Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira) and cross-functional problem-solving
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment, managing multiple priorities
Strong analytical mindset with a focus on attention to detail and problem-solving
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Mode, Tableau or Power BI (data visualization software) is a plus
