Job Description

Reporting to the HR Manager, this is a pivotal role within the HR function, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, operational teams, and HR professionals to influence industrial relations outcomes across the business. You will play a key role in shaping Primero’s approach to industrial relations, leading enterprise bargaining activities, and providing trusted, expert advice on complex workplace matters. The position offers exposure to a broad range of IR challenges, allowing you to apply both strategic thinking and hands on expertise in a meaningful way.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and implement industrial relations strategies that align with Primero’s operational and commercial objectives
  • Lead and support enterprise agreement negotiations across multiple projects and jurisdictions
  • Provide expert, practical advice to the HR Advisory team and operational leaders on IR matters
  • Interpret and apply industrial instruments, including awards and enterprise agreements, ensuring consistent and compliant application
  • Support the HR team in managing union engagement by reviewing correspondence, advising on approach, and ensuring alignment with business strategy
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate industrial relations risks across projects and operations
  • Support the effective resolution of industrial disputes, including preparation for external proceedings where required
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of IR policies, frameworks, and processes
  • Deliver coaching and guidance to leaders and HR teams to build internal capability and confidence in managing IR matters

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial relations within construction, mining, or a comparable industry in an industrial relations focused role
  • Strong experience supporting or leading enterprise bargaining processes
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • A pragmatic, solutions focused approach to managing risk and resolving issues
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
