We serve federal, state and local agencies, as well as private commercial, institutional, and industrial clients nationwide. We are seeking a part-time Industrial Hygienist, who will play a vital role in supporting industrial hygiene and business science projects across the country. This role focuses on regulated building material sampling and surveys, air monitoring oversight, and compliance management. Fieldwork to identify, assess, and document hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, mold, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in building systems, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations is required. Frequent travel is required to client sites primarily located throughout the Northeast, but other domestic locations may be required depending upon the nature of the assignment. Job Responsibility:
Perform regulated building material surveys, including the identification and assessment of asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and other hazardous building materials
Conduct bulk material sampling, air sampling, and surface sampling in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Provide air monitoring oversight during abatement and remediation projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and health and safety protocols
Analyze and manage field data to develop detailed, accurate technical reports, including sample location maps, laboratory results, and recommendations for regulatory compliance and remediation strategies
Operate, calibrate, and maintain environmental monitoring and sampling equipment to ensure data accuracy and reliability
Collaborate with project teams to support the development and implementation of environmental management plans and compliance strategies for regulated building materials
Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and state-specific guidelines, to ensure client compliance and industry best practices
Frequent domestic travel (50-75% of the time) to client sites, often working in a variety of settings, including industrial, commercial, and residential properties
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Building Sciences, or a related field
2 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, regulated building material surveys, or hazardous material sampling
Licensed as an asbestos project monitor and asbestos building inspector
Familiarity with conducting surveys for asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and other hazardous building materials is preferred
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable guidelines for regulated building materials and workplace safety
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document and analyze field data, including the preparation of technical reports
Proficiency in operating and maintaining environmental sampling equipment, such as air pumps, particulate monitors, and bulk sampling tools
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage tasks independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic GIS or CAD applications is a plus
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites primarily in the Northeast U.S., including overnight stays as needed
