Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join a well-established Industrial Disease team based in Birmingham. The role focuses on defendant work, acting for a range of insurers and corporate clients, and offers an excellent balance of high-quality work, flexibility and long-term career development. The team handles a broad spread of industrial disease claims, with a particular emphasis on noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) matters. You will be trusted with responsibility for your own caseload while being supported by experienced senior lawyers and a collaborative wider team.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing a caseload of industrial disease claims, primarily NIHL matters
  • Acting for defendant clients, including insurers and self-insured organisations
  • Reviewing medical and expert evidence and advising on liability, causation and quantum
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements and schedules
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver pragmatic and commercially focused outcomes

Requirements

  • Experience handling noise induced hearing loss claims (essential)

Serve as a subject matter expert for one type of equipment and oversee everyday tasks and troubleshooting within their area of expertise. Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works within disciplines they have been trained and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline(s). Provide and/or assign team to provide necessary escort to third-party contractors, sub contractors, vendors, and service providers on site for all severity leveled procedures.
