Meta Reality Labs is shaping the future of technology, and our Industrial Design team is bringing this next generation of hardware to life. As a Packaging Designer at Meta, you will create delightful, holistically considered packaging that elevates our total brand experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Design category-leading structural packaging for Meta's hardware business
  • Define the unboxing experience from purchase to set-up, optimizing for a seamless physical-to-digital flow
  • Shape the structural language of our brand through packaging, considering materials, construction, tonality, and print
  • Collaborate with UXR teams to uncover OOBE insights and test concept performance against core product goals
  • Work closely with Marketing teams to inform artwork approach and ensure harmonious integration of 2D and 3D assets
  • Conceive elegant solutions to address technical challenges and complex shipping requirements
  • Partner with engineers to realize designs and ensure flawless delivery against robust test standards
  • Drive upstream innovation, exploring new approaches to package form, function, construction, and material
  • Utilize technical processes, materials, and technologies to advance sustainability goals
  • Communicate clearly and partner with cross-functional teams to execute under tight timelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design (3D), or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience as an industrial designer, developing consumer packaging or 3D/physical brand experiences
  • Hands-on experience exploring and refining designs through iterative prototyping (Dielines/3D)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and render packages (SolidWorks, NX, Rhino, Keyshot)

Nice to have

  • Experience in Artios CAD or similar 2D packages
  • 5+ years of experience as an industrial designer, developing consumer packaging or 3D/physical brand experiences

  • Lead packaging engineering design work for key innovation projects from concept to manufacture, using Unilever best practice and design tools and methodologies
  • Partner with internal and external teams to create engineering solutions to deliver the Brand / R&D ambitions
  • Generate and refine structural packaging solutions using engineering tools (CAD, simulation, prototyping & testing) to develop and validate with rigour and speed
  • Use 3D printing and prototyping technologies to bring design ideas to life and enable the technical testing of new ideas and solutions
  • Support packaging workstream leaders in the technical development of components, gathering and interpreting quantitative data and insights to aid decision making
  • Support the briefing process, collaborating and guiding the design delivery of external engineering and simulation agencies
  • Create and manage CAD data in support of projects, creating detailed component designs, 2D drawings and robust component specifications, under guidance from senior engineers and packaging work-stream leaders
  • Liaise with global suppliers and development partners to provide information, within strict data version control guidelines
