To help us shape the Future Flying Experience, Airbus Operations is looking for an Industrial Design Intern – Advanced Design Cabin (d/f/m). A unique opportunity has arisen within Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft division for a highly motivated and creative Industrial Design Intern to join our award-winning Advanced Cabin Design team based in Hamburg, Germany. This internship will provide invaluable experience, helping to shape our next generation travel experience, with an emphasis on sustainability and inclusivity. You will be working alongside experienced professionals, learning from the best in the industry, and directly impact the design and development of our cabin concepts. Helping to create design solutions that seamlessly balance a consistent aesthetic approach with robust functionality and performance.
Job Responsibility:
Conceptualization and Presentation - Developing and presenting customer focused, upstream cabin design concepts to key stakeholders
Creating compelling design solutions and stories using both 2D and 3D software
Trend Analysis and Interpretation - Translating market trends, customer feedback, and sustainability goals into compelling design solutions
Researching and interpreting industry trends, analyzing passenger preferences, and ensuring that designs align with Airbus' commitment to sustainability
Design Integration and Refinement - Supporting the seamless integration of upstream design concepts into functional and aesthetically consistent cabin solutions
Working closely with engineering and other design teams to ensure designs meet both aesthetic and functional requirements
Eco-Design and Customer Focus: Championing our sustainability principles and a customer-centric approach throughout the design process
Exploring sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring design integrity and a passenger-focused and inclusive mindset
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating effectively across the design department as well as with other Airbus commercial functions
Technological Foresight: Identifying and describing how new technologies and trends could be manifested within a cabin interior
Presentation Material Development: Preparing engaging stories and associated materials that clearly and persuasively communicate our design proposals to internal key stakeholders
Requirements:
Enrolled fulltime student (d/f/m) within Industrial Design or a similar study field
Demonstrated proficiency in 2D (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and 3D (Blender, Alias, Rhino, or equivalent) software
Strong Presentation Skills - Both written and verbal
Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Slides, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
A strong understanding of form generation, interior aesthetics, ergonomics, and industrial design principles
Understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, materials, and techniques
Fluency in English is mandatory
German language skills are a significant advantage
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
A highly motivated, proactive, and results-oriented approach, coupled with a strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude
