The Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the company's tax compliance and reporting obligations in Mexico, with a primary focus on indirect taxes (VAT, excise taxes, etc.) at the local, federal, and international levels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Mexican tax law, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. A working knowledge of direct taxes is also required.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and file all required Mexican indirect tax returns (e.g., VAT) accurately and timely, including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings
Reconcile VAT accounts and ensure accurate reporting of input and output VAT
Monitor changes in Mexican indirect tax laws and regulations and assess the impact on the company
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VAT rules related to cross-border transactions, including imports, exports, and services
Assist with indirect tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities
Ensure compliance with e-invoicing requirements (CFDI) and other digital tax regulations
Assist with the preparation of the annual income tax return and related schedules
Support the calculation of estimated income tax payments
Maintain a working knowledge of Mexican income tax law
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
+3 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on Mexican indirect taxes
Experience with Mexican tax compliance software and e-invoicing systems
Strong understanding of Mexican VAT law and regulations
Experience with [Specific ERP System, e.g., SAP, Oracle]
Working knowledge of Mexican income tax law
Experience with cross-border transactions and international tax principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken) is required

Master's degree in Taxation or a related field
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
