As an Indirect Tax Manager, you will be a part of the dynamic and growing team (currently 5 people). The part of the team is based in Amsterdam and is supported by the BPO Accenture. Within the role you will be responsible for the review and submission of VAT returns as well as other compliance activities (ie plastic tax). You will be working on EMEA VAT compliance processes (32 VAT registrations); ensuring timely submission of returns, streamlining VAT processes, assisting with implementation of new tax legislation; performing UAT testing for new projects. This role will help you to broaden your VAT knowledge as you will be working with VAT subject matter experts, covering 11 tax jurisdictions.
Job Responsibility:
Review and approval of VAT, Intrastat, ESL, LSPL reports provided by BPO
Investigate discrepancies, advice processing team on the resolutions
Ensure timely submission of VAT, ESL and Intrastat declarations in various tax jurisdictions
Maintain the due date tracker of obligations
Provide commentary to the quarter end variance analysis
Answer VAT-related questions from colleagues across a range of departments
Assist with the preparation of 8th and 13th Directive claims
Verify that sales and purchase invoices are compliant for VAT purposes
Review and approve import reconciliation
Assist in the implementation of VAT reporting technology (automation)
Prepare monthly short-term liquidity forecast for VAT
Seek to initiate process improvements
establish cross functional teamwork
Coordinate tax payments
Prepare corrective returns
Assist with tax audit queries
Raise IT tickets to resolve masterdata/ SAP issues
Review the reconciliations prepared by the BPO/ suggest write offs to eliminated old items
Support with designing control checks for the VAT data
Assist with Fin 48 reporting/ quarter end reporting
Run reports and provide input for the eco tax fillings and provide information to the 3rd party providers
Create PO for compliance fees
Perform UAT testing for new tax design projects, legislative changes
Requirements:
University degree in tax law, accountancy, or related area
5 years to 7 years’ experience in a VAT Compliance, preferably in an international environment
Experience in ERP systems (SAP)
Excellent Excel skills
Fluent communication skills: English is a must
Nice to have:
power BI is a plus
other European language is a plus
A keen interest in automation is a welcomed
