Job Description:

The Independent Risk Review and Oversight - Retail Services and Global Partnerships Director oversees portfolio risk management activities to minimize credit losses and potential damage to the Citigroup franchise or reputation. The role includes developing business strategies, calculating CECL reserves, conducting stress tests, loss forecasts, and managing risk appetite for the First Line of Defense. For the Second Line of Defense, the role involves providing effective oversight and periodic review and challenge of 1LOD portfolio management processes and outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee portfolio risk management activities to minimize credit losses and potential damage to Citigroup franchise or reputation
  • Develop business strategies
  • Calculate CECL reserves
  • Conduct stress tests and loss forecasts
  • Manage risk appetite for First Line of Defense (1LOD)
  • Provide effective oversight and periodic review and challenge of 1LOD portfolio management processes and outcomes
  • Ensure credit risk is managed effectively across all portfolios
  • Oversee compliance processes for credit portfolio limits
  • Maintain uniform control environment across all portfolios and Centers of Excellence
  • Manage operational risk and monitor key contractual deliverables
  • Assess risk during business decision-making processes
  • Abide by all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Escalate, address, and transparently report control issues
  • Acquire profound knowledge of industry and competitors
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Understand strategic direction of the function
  • Monitor and implement latest trends in credit risk analysis
  • Lead oversight of defense processes for credit portfolio management
  • Develop limit methodologies
  • Coordinate regulatory interactions
  • Enhance process controls
  • Oversee governance discussions and risk mitigation efforts
  • Represent and coordinate second line of defense in risk appetite engagement
  • Manage risk statements and assessments
  • Identify top risks
  • Conduct regular reviews of portfolio health
  • Engage in ad-hoc work related to risk control

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience
  • Proven leadership experience in overseeing and challenging multiple professional teams
  • Ability to oversee and challenge the 1st LOD in their field of expertise
  • Background in operational risk management including review and challenge of control environments across portfolios
  • Insight into strategies for improving business performance including process enhancements and talent management
  • Expertise in monitoring and diagnosing portfolio performance
  • Understanding of risk assessment processes in business decision-making
  • Experience in managing, addressing, and reporting control issues including supervising others and enforcing accountability
  • Deep knowledge of the finance industry and products/services of direct competition
  • In-depth understanding of laws and regulations that govern finance industry policies and practices
  • Comprehensive insight into the strategic direction of the finance function including related systems, theories, and practices
  • Strong awareness of ethical standards in personal behavior, conduct, and business practices
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to guide teams and devise strategic plans
  • Risk management proficiency to evaluate and maintain control environments and managing operational risk
  • Ability to identify and execute opportunities for performance enhancement
  • Demonstrated competence in portfolio management specifically in monitoring, diagnosing, and critically assessing portfolio performance
  • Established ethical behavior and ability to adhere to laws, rules, and regulations
  • Impressive communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strategic comprehension of the function with ability to assess and question relevant systems, theories, and practices
  • Proven ability to oversee and critically appraise others effectively holding them accountable for maintaining standards
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
