Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Inclusion Advisor to join an Alternative Provision setting across West Sussex. This is a key pastoral and inclusion-focused role, supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, within nurturing, structured, and inclusive environments across multiple sites.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the inclusion, engagement, and wellbeing of students across multiple provisions
  • Travel between sites to provide consistent pastoral and inclusion support
  • Work closely with teaching staff to reduce barriers to learning
  • Develop and implement individual support and behaviour plans
  • Monitor attendance, engagement, and pastoral needs of students
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student outcomes
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches
  • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential – travel between provisions required)
  • Experience working with young people with additional needs, ideally in SEMH or alternative provision settings
  • Strong understanding of inclusion, safeguarding, and pastoral support
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, resilient, and solution-focused approach
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Must have the right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
