Job Description

An established Orange County company seeks an In-House Counsel with strong California employment law experience. In this hybrid role, you’ll advise on Wage & Hour matters, partner with HR on payroll audits, leaves of absence (LOAs), accommodations, and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide expert legal counsel on California employment law matters, including Wage & Hour compliance and leave of absence policies
  • Collaborate with HR teams to conduct payroll audits and ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Review and update employee handbooks to reflect current employment regulations and best practices
  • Advise on ADA accommodations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and company policies
  • Support the organization in managing employee leaves of absence, including FMLA and other statutory requirements
  • Partner with HR to address workplace issues and implement effective solutions
  • Conduct training sessions for management and staff on employment law topics
  • Draft and review legal documentation related to employment matters, such as policies, procedures, and agreements
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in employment law and provide proactive guidance to the company

Requirements

  • JD
  • active Bar license in any state
  • direct experience supporting law firm or corporate clients on CA employment regulations
  • strong communication and collaborative skills are essential
  • active license to practice law in California
  • minimum of 7 years of experience specializing in employment law
  • in-depth knowledge of Wage & Hour regulations and compliance requirements
  • proven experience managing leave of absence policies, including FMLA and ADA accommodations
  • strong ability to collaborate with HR teams for audits and workplace initiatives
  • excellent legal drafting and communication skills
  • commitment to staying current on employment law changes and industry trends
  • prior experience with maintaining and updating employee handbooks
