We’re seeking a personable and detail-oriented In-House Counsel to join our small but highly skilled legal and compliance team. This role is perfect for a junior attorney (1–2 years of experience) with a litigation background who no longer wants to litigate but enjoys writing, research, and arbitration work. The position focuses on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under the No Surprises Act, compliance, and audit defense. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and collaborate across departments to support both clients and internal operations.
Job Responsibility:
Handle ADR filings under the No Surprises Act, including initiating negotiations, submitting offers, and managing the cooling-off period
Prepare and respond to audit defense matters, including appeals of payor recoupments and compliance inquiries
Draft, edit, and manage templates and submissions for arbitrations and regulatory filings
Conduct legal research and draft clear, persuasive written analyses
Write short articles or email updates (weekly or biweekly) on industry or regulatory topics
Contribute to marketing efforts, including educational pieces and presentations
Support compliance projects and internal policy initiatives
Communicate effectively with leadership, clients, and peers
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
licensed and in good standing in New York
1–2 years of legal experience
Interest in ADR processes and the No Surprises Act
Excellent legal writing and research skills
Westlaw experience preferred
Strong communicator who is professional, personable, and collaborative
Organized, self-sufficient, and capable of managing workload independently
Interest in building a long-term, in-house career within a supportive team environment
