We are looking for a skilled and strategic In House Counsel to join an HR tech/services company. This role involves providing comprehensive legal guidance across various areas, including corporate governance, contract negotiation, compliance, and litigation management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law and employment law, with the ability to lead initiatives, collaborate across departments, and deliver pragmatic legal solutions that align with business goals.
Job Responsibility:
Offer legal advice and support to company leadership and departments on matters such as compliance, risk management, and corporate governance
Identify legal risks and implement strategies to mitigate them while ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and employment agreements
Oversee litigation and regulatory matters by collaborating with external counsel, compliance consultants, and regulatory agencies
Develop, implement, and improve policies and procedures to ensure organizational compliance with licensing and employment laws
Conduct legal research to stay current with legislative changes and regulatory developments affecting the industry
Manage and mentor compliance personnel, fostering attention to detail and maintaining high performance standards
Provide cross-functional legal support to departments such as Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Sales
Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives to drive business objectives
Occasionally travel as required to fulfill essential job responsibilities
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active law license and membership in good standing within the state of domicile
Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on corporate or employment law
Proven leadership experience managing legal or compliance teams
Expertise in federal and state employment laws, as well as data privacy regulations
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly
Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities and projects
