Job Description:

As an In-Charge Accountant, you will be involved in all areas of client service from attestation engagements to tax preparation and review. You will supervise staff accountants on engagements both in the office and on-site at client location, occasionally managing communication with client on-site and developing client relationships. You may be responsible for several engagements at any given time. This role offers opportunity for advancement and a defined path to leadership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participate in the planning of engagements
  • Complete compilation engagements with guidance
  • Assume additional responsibility for preparation of work papers and financial statements
  • Develop footnotes to financial statements
  • Develop management letter comments
  • Review work papers prepared by staff accountants
  • Prepare higher level individual, corporate and/or other types of tax returns
  • Perform preliminary research on tax-related issues
  • Respond to tax notices
  • Participate in tax planning
  • Deepen knowledge of federal, state and local law
  • Pass the CPA exam at the conclusion of this position and before being promoted to senior accountant
  • Demonstrate knowledge of client’s accounting system and industry
  • Detect problems and offer solutions to client issues
  • Provide training and assistance to staff accountants

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics or equivalent experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or qualified to sit for the CPA exam
  • 2-5 years of public accounting experience
  • Highly motivated with the desire to grow and develop
  • Interest in building collaborative relationships, striving to find the best possible solutions
  • Knowledge of accounting and tax software
  • Ability to travel, as needed for client engagements (mostly local)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship
